What is tank calibration?

GPS MONITORING SYSTEMS

Why to do calibration?

Tank calibration is necessary for accurate fuel level sensor readings in the GPS monitoring system. But first, let’s analyze how it works.

The RIVNEMIR/TLS digital fuel level sensor – is designed to measure the fuel level installed in the vehicle tank depending on the liquid level.

Fuel level sensors can be analogue, frequent та digital. First, the system needs to find out which sensor readings correspond to a certain fuel level.The calibration procedure is performed so that the monitoring system can display data in liters.During calibration, fuel is poured into the tank in small doses. Grounding on this data, a calibration table is compiled and entered into the GPS monitoring system.

How long does calibration take?

Tank calibration is quite a long process. Our masters approach this process with great responsibility. First, small portions are poured into the tank to eliminate the inaccuracy on round shaped tanks.

Then 10 to 20 liters of fuel are poured into the tank. After each filling, a break is taken to stabilize the fuel level in the tank and to enter indicators in the packing table. Calibration of a 600 liter tank takes about 2–4 hours.

For calibration, we will need:

- Pump for full pumping of fuel from the tank;
- Fuel level sensor;
- Measuring tanks for control inspection.
