Toll roads
The main toll roads in Poland are highways (but not all of them). They are indicated by the letter A and the number (А1, А2, А4, А6, А8, А18). The total length is more than 2027 km. More than 1660 km of highways have been put into operation. The other part will be put later.
Electronic toll collection system
In general, the toll collection system in Poland depends on the mileage. Payment is made at the entrance or exit from the highway. There are several options: it can be a cabin with employees lifting a barrier or automatic checkpoints.
There is a special slot-machine at the entrance where the driver must take a ticket. The driver must pay the distance at the exit from the toll road. If the driver has lost the ticket, then they will have to pay the maximum amount for traveling the entire length of the toll highway
Recently, in the July 2021, the e-TOLL system has appeared. It works with the help of satellites. Previously, such an electronic system as ViaToll worked, but later it was replaced and only e-TOLL remained.
Today, the use of the e-TOLL system is mandatory for all vehicles under the control of Generalna Dyrekcja Dróg Krajowych and Autostrad.
How much does the travel cost?
The price of toll roads varies greatly from
0.10 to 0.50 PLN/km.
Payment can be made by payment cards or in cash. But it is worth noting that when paying in cash, the change will be given only in Polish PLN.
A1 Gdansk — Torun – the price for this toll road section will be 29.90 PLN.
A2 Swiecko — Konin – the price for this toll road section will be 93 PLN..
A4 Katowice — Krakow -the price for this toll road section will be 24 PLN
A2 Konin — Strykow – the price for this toll road section will be 9.90 PLN
A4 Wroclaw — Gliwice - the price for this toll road section will be 16.20 PLNх
Payment is valid both at the gate and through the apps.
