GPS Monitoring System installation

GPS MONITORING SYSTEMS

The standard set of the GPS monitoring system includes a GPS tracker and a fuel level sensor. This is enough to determine the location and control the fuel.

Tracker installation

GPS Tracker installation does not take very much time, but it claims the installer’s attention. The installation location is determined on-site, after a preliminary risk assessment. Most commonly, the GPS tracker is installed on the side panel of the car.

Fuel level sensor installation

In order for the sensor to give clearer readings, it is installed to the tank center as close as possible.
First, a small hole is drilled. Here an angle drill is used for drilling in hard-to-reach places.
Then the absence of interference is checked with a thin probe. If there are any obstacles, then the hole is closed with a plug, and if not – a large hole is drilled.

The process of drilling a large hole requires maximum attention. The tank heats up, and there are a lot of chips, and the sparks are not allowed by any means. Gasoline tanks are filled with water before drilling (then the water is drained and the tank is dried), and diesel fuel tanks are drilled only when the tank is full.

Then a fuel level sensor is installed after drilling a hole. It is important to put a gasket between the tank and the fuel level sensor (FLS) and smear it with sealant to prevent fuel leakage.

Tank calibration

Special metrological equipment is required for calibration. We make the necessary FLS settings with the USA (Universal Service Adapter).
The calibration process itself consists in pouring a certain amount of fuel into the tank and taking sensor readings. These readings are recorded in a calibration graph. This graph will be used later by the satellite monitoring program to determine the fuel level in the tank. Then, upon completion of calibration, control refills and drains are performed in order to check the correct FLS operation. The filling/discharge volume must be at least 20 % of the tank volume.

After the tank calibration and checking the FLS, you only need to connect the FLS to the tracker bus which is installed in the cab.
This joint is also sealed.
